Mount Gahinga

The Gahinga Volcanoes commonly referred to as Mufumbiro Mountains consist of three extinct volcanoes of Muhavura, Sabinyo and mount Gahinga all in Southwestern Uganda on the borders with Rwanda Uganda and DRC. For avid hikers, it’s the place to be with mountain climbing possibilities with varied altitudinal ranges from 3,000 to over 4,000 meters above sea level.

Hiking these 3 volcanoes can be arranged on top of mountain gorilla or golden monkey trekking which all take place in Mgahinga National Park where all the 3 volcanoes are situated. Climbing all the 3 takes only one day taking about 7 to 8 hours of round trip, visitors will not require carrying camping or overnight equipments. It’s recommended staying for three nights in Mgahinga national park to climb all the three within 3 days. It shall depend upon a visitor to request for a porter.
